Mr. Depuy is a graduate of Yale University and Dickinson School of Law, where he served as an Editor of the School’s Law Review.

Mr. Depuy began his private practice at the Connecticut firm of Cummings & Lockwood in 1977, where he specialized in Family Law. He became a partner in the firm’s litigation department in 1984 and remained at Cummings & Lockwood until 1994, when he left to form Benedict & Depuy, where he maintains a general law practice now specializing in mediation in Stamford, Connecticut.

During his years of practice, Mr. Depuy has been a member of the Connecticut and American Bar Associations, serving on numerous committees and as a Council Member of the Family Law Section of the ABA, while also teaching a course on law and marriage at Stamford High School.

Over the years, Mr. Depuy has contributed to his state and local communities by serving as the President of the Stamford YMCA and a member of its Board for six years; as the legal advisor to and a long time member of the Board of Directors of Special Olympics Connecticut, where he also served on its Development and Executive Committees; as a Board member of the Peter Pan Children’s Fund, an organization founded to motivate children and young adults to become philanthropists for a lifetime; as a Board member of the Summer Theater of New Canaan; and for ten years as a Board member and Connecticut Liaison for operations of The William Pitt Foundation.

He co-founded The Wilburn Fellowship, asking high school students to undertake projects that bring people of difference together; and since 2009, he has worked closely with Professor Volf on a number of important initiatives, including Life Worth Living, now for the last several years as an Advisory Board Member to The Yale Center for Faith and Culture.

Mr. Depuy resides in New Canaan, Connecticut.
