Episode Summary

A grateful look back at 2024 programs, projects, events, activities, and more—from the Yale Center for Faith & Culture.

We love because we have first been loved so deeply by the God who upholds the world and everything in it. And yet, it often seems we live in a culture that has been stripped of grace.

What can we do to make a difference here and now?

As we all ask this timely question of our own lives, I have long held that we must strive to live in ways that are characterized by giving and forgiving, two of the core foci of the Christian faith, and indeed of the God of love.

This is the relational model Christ calls us to: not because we are commanded to or because we might reap benefits, but because we have received long before we were first asked to give, and we have been forgiven long before we were asked to forgive.

We all feel the weight of a world perennially longing both for justice and for grace. And you can continue to explore these convictions in an updated video curriculum series for my book Free of Charge: Giving and Forgiving in a Culture Stripped of Grace, available soon via faith.yale.edu.

But this call to give and forgive also resonates with my commitment to the mission of the Yale Center for Faith & Culture: to reveal the transformative potential of the teachings of Jesus Christ in our world today, and to encourage truth-seeking conversation across lines of difference, through accessible and free resources.

2024 was a vibrant year of progress and incubation for YCFC. Our network growth and outreach were nearly unmatched in our 20-year history, and through fresh research and relationships, we have continued to invest in work that contributes to lives worthy of our humanity.

In all we do, I remain humbled: Your incredible support continually draws me back to Christ’s model of generous love. Thank you.

Yours,
